  2. You’ve put so much thought into this, it’s awesome! I look forward to reading through all your season/episode listings. One thought: the length of this episode’s First Appearances list shows one of the greatest problems in filming TS. So many unfamiliar names to keep track of, in just the one episode!

    • Yes that is a problem with any big production. I have had similar problems with other shows such as Game of Thrones and Deadwood. The plan would be to introduce them in the first episode but focus on the few main characters – Feanor, Finwe, Fingolfin and a few others. The Valar would be mostly background characters and other characters like Fingon, Turgon, Finrod, Glorfindel, Galadriel etc would be developed gradually as the season goes on, allowing viewers to customise themselves with the characters without being overwhelmed, hopefully.

  3. I like the story being set by Maglor and Elrond- continuity with a well known character, Elrond. But I wouldn’t have their meeting in the third age; by which time Elrond is a lord of renown in his own right and would have known well these events from accounts from Cirdan, Gilgalad, etc.
Set the story at the kinslaying when Elrond and Elros are captured by Maglor showing how he comes to care for them as he shares to them what has happened and the effect its had on him.

    • The point is that Elrond would have learned these events by characters that were mostly out of the picture. Cirdan, Gil-Galad and Galadriel only took part in the War of the Jewels every now and then. And while Elrond would have been told some things by Maglor, to gain his trust I don’t think he’d know the full truth about the Kinslayings.
The point of Elrond meeting Maglor in the Third Age is to get the full truth he deserves from his adopted father, as someone who took the Oath and was there from the creation of the Silmarils to the Third Age.
